For this 10th year, we have partnered with the wonderful folks at the Brentwood Boy & Girls Club... who continue to do an incredible job of providing after school activities for the Latin American community. This year we have a goal to sponsor more than a 100 kids to run the race through our “Sponsor a little runner” program where $30 dollars can contribute to pay a member’s entry fee. During the nine years we have had over 5,000 runners and have been able to contribute over $140K to the Boys & Girls Club.
Art, food, music, dancing, and local beer as part of the celebration... This year the race will start at 10AM, and as usual the race course goes through Oakwood cemetery and loop back to Wilmington St. We will have two altars; one at Oakwood cemetery and one on Wilmington Street where people will be able to do offerings of flowers and written messages in memory of their loved ones. There will be an art corner for the kids sponsored by Artspace, face painting by Paint Savvy, the best prices from local businesses, for top runners and best costumes, our famous dance-off costume contest.
...and Drinks! Last year we partnered with our friends over at Trophy Beer and created a very special and unique beer for the event. All runners 21+ will finish the race at the street party with a Celebratory (FREE) Day of the Dead Trophy brew, and don't worry if you're under age... we've got something special for you too!
